Peter Klasen, born in Lubeck (former East Germany) in 1935, now lives in Paris since 1959. He is one of the pioneers of the Narrative Figuration movement that started with the exhibition called “Daily Mythologies” in the The City of Paris Museum of Modern Art in 1964. This movement, as an alternative and quite against the abstraction that was then dominating the international artistic landscape, was first led by artists as Eduardo Arroyo, Jacques Monory, Bernard Rancillac and Hervé Télémaque. Some other partners such as Adami, Erro or Vladimir Velickovic will soon join them. Klasen’s works can be seen in more than 60 museums and public collections all over the world. He was one of the leading artists taking part to the major exhibition dedicated to the Narrative Figuration in the Grand Palais in Paris, in April 2008.
